Published Research Supporting Formulations
Complete Scientific Documentation for HERS, HIS & Youth Product Lines
Our Commitment to Evidence-Based Skincare
TrueOrganic formulates based on published clinical research—combining evidence-based concentrations with advanced delivery systems and synergistic ingredients for maximum efficacy. This document provides complete citations and findings for all scientific claims referenced throughout our website.
Every formulation decision we make is informed by peer-reviewed research published in scientific journals. When we say "over 1,000mg pharmaceutical-grade CBD per jar," we can cite the exact study proving concentration matters. When we formulate our Dual-Pathway CB2 Complex at 4.4% total (CBD 2.4% + Copaiba 1.1% + Frankincense 0.9%), we're applying clinical research showing that delivery systems and synergistic ingredients maximize efficacy.
This is what separates TrueOrganic from conventional brands making vague "clinical" claims without evidence.

PRIMARY STUDIES CITED
These foundational studies inform TrueOrganic's formulation philosophy across all three product lines and are referenced throughout our website.
STUDY 1: CBD CONCENTRATION & SKIN DELIVERY
Full Citation: Paudel KS, Hammell DC, Agu RU, Valiveti S, Stinchcomb AL. "In vitro percutaneous absorption studies of cannabidiol using human skin: Exploring the effect of drug concentration, chemical enhancers, and essential oils." International Journal of Pharmaceutics. 2022 Mar 25;616:121540. doi: 10.1016/j.ijpharm.2022.121540. PMID: 35124116.
Study Type: In vitro percutaneous absorption study using human skin
Objective: To investigate the effect of CBD concentration on skin delivery and identify optimal therapeutic concentrations for topical application.
Methodology:
- Franz diffusion cell method using human skin samples
- Three concentrations tested: 1%, 5%, and 10% CBD
- 24-hour absorption study
- Measurement of CBD penetration into skin tissue
Key Findings: Concentration-Dependent Delivery
- 1% CBD delivered: 23.02 ± 4.74 µg/cm² into skin tissue
- 5% CBD delivered: 242.41 ± 12.17 µg/cm² into skin tissue
- 10% CBD delivered: 232.79 ± 20.82 µg/cm² into skin tissue
Critical Conclusion: "1% delivered significantly lower amount of drug into skin than 5% and 10%." The difference between 1% and 5-10% concentrations was statistically significant, demonstrating that concentrations below 5% deliver approximately 10 times less active ingredient into skin tissue.
How TrueOrganic Applies This Research Across Product Lines
While standard formulations require 5-10% for optimal delivery, TrueOrganic has engineered formulations (HERS/HIS 2.4%, Youth 1.6%) to maximize CBD efficacy through multiple enhancement strategies:
- 100% Anhydrous Delivery System: Oil-based formulations enhance lipophilic active penetration without water or synthetic blockers.
- Dual-Source CBD for Synergistic Benefits: Pharmaceutical-Grade Isolate blended with Full-Spectrum CBD for the entourage effect.
- CB2 Receptor Amplification (HERS & HIS): Copaiba Essential Oil (1.1%) beta-caryophyllene acts as a CB2 agonist, synergistically amplifying CBD's anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Multi-Pathway Anti-Inflammatory Complex: Two complementary pathways for mature skin vs a preventative approach for younger skin.
- Climate-Optimized Stability: Preserves maximum shelf-life and potency without degradation.
STUDY 2: INDUSTRY CONCENTRATION ANALYSIS
Source: Independent laboratory testing conducted by Micro Quality Labs, Burbank, CA (October 2020 & February 2021), commissioned by Exponent Beauty.
Objective: To verify actual active ingredient concentrations in popular skincare products and compare to claimed concentrations and efficacy thresholds.
- 60% of tested products contained active ingredient concentrations below the minimum threshold required for therapeutic efficacy.
- Day 1 concentrations were 30% lower than brand claims on average.
- Active ingredients degraded by 40% on average within 8 weeks of opening.
Critical Conclusion: Exposure of the practice of "fairy dusting"—adding buzzworthy ingredients at concentrations sufficient for label claims but insufficient for therapeutic effects in mostly water-based formulas.

FORMULATION PHILOSOPHY REFERENCES
WATER-FREE FORMULATIONS
Principle: 100% anhydrous formulations deliver maximum active concentration without water-related compromises. Water dilutes active ingredients and requires emulsifiers, preservatives, and thickeners.
GENDER & AGE-SPECIFIC FORMULATION
Citation: Dao H Jr, Kazin RA. "Gender differences in skin: a review of the literature." Gender Medicine. 2007.
Principle: Men's and women's skin have distinct biological differences requiring targeted formulation approaches. Male skin is 25% thicker, produces 2x more sebum, and loses collagen consistently rather than hormonally.
CELLULAR TRANSFORMATION TIMELINE
Citation: Rittié L, Fisher GJ. "Natural and sun-induced aging of human skin." Cold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Medicine. 2015.
Principle: Realistic 6-8 Week Transformation Expectations. Visible transformation requires at least one complete cellular turnover cycle, which averages 35-60 days for mature skin.
